Josh Unsworth has been named HPCS Junior Player of the Year 2005

The summer of 2005 was a good season for Josh. He played for Hayfield under 15's, under 17's and also established himself as a 1st team player.

He made three 50's for the under 17's (one in the cup and two in the league) and bowled economically, taking wickets regularly throughout the season.

Josh played 18 1st team league games plus 4 Bissenden Cup matches. He scored 50 not out against Hawk Green and averaged 61.50 for the season. He took 15 wickets in total for Hayfield, main figures being 4-36 v Compstall and 4-28 v Whaley Bridge.

Josh has completed 2 years with Derbyshire County Cricket Club and is now a member of their mini-academy. He is going on tour to the West Indies in February with Derbyshire under 16's.

His main figures last year were 2 wkts for 4 runs off 6 overs v Northampton and 4 wkts for 10 off 8 overs against Repton.

Sadly though for Josh, the season finished on a low note. He picked up a back injury when on tour with Derbyshire. He later learnt that he had suffered a stress fracture in his lower back. Hopefully Josh has now made a full recovery from that injury and he will continue to make progress at Derbyshire County Cricket Club. We wish him every success.
